While it’s common for designers to work with supplied content, we bring a lot more to the table than simply making it readable and look good. How we handle content and craft its display plays an integral part to how the content is perceived, the reader’s experience as they interact with it, and importantly, whether or not they engage with it in the first place.
Celebrating Stefan Sagmeister’s innovative work, I was tasked with crafting two captivating double-page spreads for a print magazine, along with adaptive layouts for digital design space. By applying the principles of page architecture and exploring unexpected relationships between type and images, I learnt the rules and then had fun bending and breaking them.
